The Toronto Garbage Strike
By
James Bredin
How long does it take to legislate these members back to work?
As the garbage bags climb higher because of some union dork,
How long can we take the smell and stand helplessly aside?
Is this where democracy and dictatorship collide?
Do we have a politician who can make a decision?
Why do I see them on their cell phones but no supervision?
This garbage strike shows us that something is systemically wrong?
We have no recall, no referendums, strugling to get along.
Why is it that the police are an essential service?
But not the garbage men which eventually will make us nervous,
Our systemic legal social system is extremely weak here,
If we had binding referendums we could the interfere.
